Editorial Standards

These standards explain how Big Bold Guides selects, checks and updates published travel advice.

Purpose

Every guide should help a reader make a better decision. Useful work answers a specific travel question, gives enough context to act and makes important limits easy to see.

Selection and judgment

Inclusion is not based on how many attractions can fit on a page. We consider route logic, pace, cultural value, accessibility of the advice and the tradeoffs a traveler may face. A recommendation should explain why it belongs and who it suits.

Research and practical checks

Stable context can come from reputable books, institutions and established reporting. Rules, entry requirements, transport changes, closures and other time-sensitive facts should be checked with official or primary sources when available. Sources may be listed on an article when they help a reader verify a practical claim.

We avoid presenting live opening hours, prices or availability as permanent facts. Readers should confirm details that could affect bookings, safety or access.

Writing and editing

Published work should sound human, specific and useful. Automated tools do not decide what is worth recommending. The editor remains responsible for selection, structure, claims and the final published text.

Authorship and review dates

Big Bold Guides is edited and published by Leonardo. An article may show its latest review date when a substantive fact check or editorial review has taken place. A changed date should represent real work, not a cosmetic refresh.

Corrections

Credible corrections are reviewed. Material errors should be fixed promptly and the article reviewed for related problems. Minor wording and formatting changes may be made without a formal correction notice.

To report an error, use the Contact Us page and provide the article title, the detail in question and a reliable source when possible.

Commercial independence

Advertising, affiliate relationships, digital products and merchandise may fund the publication. A material commercial relationship should be disclosed where readers encounter it. Advertisers and commercial partners do not receive a right to approve independent editorial conclusions.

Reader responsibility

Travel conditions change and individual needs differ. Guides are general editorial information, not a substitute for official advice, professional advice or personal judgment.
